OUR SERVICES: DOG TRAINING & HUNTING

Our Services

Hunters agree: a well-trained and responsive "upland hunting companion" can turn a good hunting experience into a great one. For this reason, experienced hunting dogs can be provided for half- and full-day bird hunts at Long Straw Ranch.

Guests are also welcome to bring their own dogs to the ranch. Hunters who do so may "self-guide" or may engage our guides and our dogs if they prefer. Many hunters enjoy bringing their young pointers and retrievers to Long Straw Ranch, as our property is a superb training ground for young or inexperienced hunting dogs.

On request, we can arrange planted game birds (pheasant or quail) to be available for working your dogs.

Reservations for hunting and dog training are required, and must be made in advance (two weeks minimum). This allows us to make arrangements for guides and dogs as necessary, set up equipment, and prepare requested game.

For people who wish to bring their own dogs to the ranch to work and train them themselves, we typically charge a $25.00 access fee. If birds are requested for dog work and training, we can provide them for $10 per bird. So, for accessing the ranch for dog training and making use of 10 planted birds, your cost would be $125.00 ($25 access + $100 birds).

Please call or e-mail us for details or to arrange your next trip.
