PHEASANT TOWER SHOOTS

Tower Shoot

We had a very good response last year to our first three tower shoots.

As you'll see in the accompanying photos, we station a mechanical lift on a wooded hilltop and array shooting stations around the hill.  This makes for some very challenging and FUN shooting.

We can accommodate tower shoots of 12-20 hunters and typically throw 20 pheasants per shooter...

HABITAT MANAGEMENT

Cover at LSR

This was a tough year to work on habitat with the drought and blistering temperatures.  We were fortunate to have good rain in the spring and we continued our practice of cultivating the shooting fields and planting native grasses and forbs.

We've been rewarded with good cover for the birds that has held up all summer.  We may be one of the few ranches around with substantial cover...

QUAIL HUNTING

We've got several thousand birds on order and expect to be in a position to start hosting quail hunters as soon as it's cool enough for dogs to work safely.

GENERAL HUNTING INFORMATION

As always, we have top notch guides and dogs available for our hunters.  Ron Smith is our chief guide and he has assembled an excellent team of guides and dogs to work with him this year.

If you have your own dogs and want to work them, that is always welcome.

We expect this year to be a busy one so we'd encourage you to book your hunting dates early.  The Tower Shoots discussed above are available on the dates indicated.  Quail hunts can be arranged any time (not on Tower Shoot days, unfortunately) and we can accommodate up to 12 hunters on property at a time.

We typically divide into groups of four (4) for safety and variety.  We have enough fields that up to three groups of four can be in the field at the same time and not cross paths.

We typically determine the financial aspects of a hunt based on number of hunters, number of birds, use of ranch dogs v. your own, etc.  For general planning purposes, a Tower Shoot is typically $450-$500 per person and a quail hunt typically around $350.  We are happy to work with you on putting together a program that works for you.

We are looking forward to hunting with you this year.
